Why in the US and not in Canada?

Some Important Considerations
  • In the U.S. we have strict protocols for research and development before a new instrument or technique can be approved by the FDA. Canada

  • doesn’t have the same stringent standard, andrefractive surgery is not regulated.
  • You have no protection under the U.S. legal system in the event of complications occurring from surgery done in Canada.
  • You and a companion will have to take several days off work to complete the preoperative and postoperative schedule for the surgery.
  • You will either have to return to Canada for all your postoperative exams, or find and pay a doctor here who will provide that service.
  • You won’t meet the doctor performing the surgery until the day of the procedure, or see him or her again after surgery.
  • In the event of complications, you will have to make multiple trips to Canada, or see a doctor here who probably is not a Lasik surgeon.

Our policy at Eye Professionals
We have been in Fargo for twenty years, and have built our private specialty practice with the premise of providing very personal quality care. You will undergo a very extensive examination and educational process prior to your decision whether to proceed with surgery or not. You will meet both Drs. Levin and Bagan during this process and will have all the time you need to discuss and ask questions.

We encourage you to research all the resources available to you before making this important decision, and choose a surgical team with which you have confidence.
